" Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them..."
Romans 12:6 (ESV)
There are a number of hardware and software discounts that may be available to you as faculty, staff, or a student at Taylor University. Most of these are general discounts available to folks who are part of an accredited higher educational institution, but some are specially negotiated by Taylor University or the Independent Colleges of Indiana, a consortium of regional schools of which Taylor is an active member. If you have questions about any of the discounts below, please feel free to contact the Information Technology department.
Microsoft Office. Microsoft has different offerings available for students and for faculty or staff. Students are eligible during their time here for free subscriptions to Office365. Sign up directly with Microsoft, using your Taylor e-mail address. For faculty and staff, Microsoft offers the Home Use Program. You can purchase that directly from Microsoft, and the license will be valid as long as you remain employed at the University. Use your Taylor e-mail address and the code 51FE38BBE5 to sign up for the program.
Microsoft Windows. All students, faculty, and staff, are eligible to purchase discounted versions of Microsoft Windows 10 through the e-academy store, but please note that the student licenses are valid only during the time the student is enrolled at Taylor, and the employee license is restricted to use for performing work for Taylor University while at home, and does not cover general computing.
Adobe Creative Cloud. Adobe has a variety of discounted monthly and annual subscriptions for Creative Cloud packages. These are available for students and faculty. The full range is available on Adobe’s website. One or more packages may also be available to staff, as well, through the e-academy store by logging in and clicking on the Adobe tab.
Other software is also available for purchase by faculty, staff, and students on the e-academy site, by clicking on the More Software link, including but not limited to:
- IBM SPSS (some packages)
- Minitab (both v. 17 and v. 18)
- Norton Security
- EndNote citation manager
Neither Taylor University nor the Information Technology department endorse or recommend any one brand of computer hardware for personal purchase. Several manufacturers do offer discounts to students, as well as to faculty and staff of higher education institutions. All of the following are well-received brands with solid reputations and anecdotal testimony of success at Taylor. They are listed in alphabetical order.
